Day 2B passes by…
After a lifetime of poker crammed into one day, Day 2B has finally come and gone.
Only 3 players managed to survive the crazy day of poker. Lars Oerskov Jensen of Eurobet told me that he’s not exactly had the best days. Being down to 11k at one point The Dane informs me that his chip stack was so low, that all he could do is “wait for a hand and then push”. His stack was at such an amount, he was restricted from playing poker. He’s still smiling though, so I’m sure he’s happy to make it through to Day 3. Håkan Andersson of Betsson told me that he had a “tough table” and that he’s had to “fight for every chip constantly throughout the day”. The Swede is looking forward to his day off tomorrow, and understandably, is glad to be coming back on Day 3. He’s been “all smiles” during the entire day and is in great spirits. As he made it to Day 2B, he mentioned he wasn’t going to shave for luck. Will we see a fully grown beard by Day 3? Christian Heich has been the Christian Heich that we all know and love. The German’s stack has been up then down, then up then down and has finished the day with around the average stack. He’ll be joining the 3 other RedKings players on Day 3, making a total of 7 players from our Partners in action in 2 days time.
Lars Oerskov Jensen of Eurobet – 23,100
Håkan Andersson of Betsson – 73,500
Christian Heich of RedKings – 88,000
With a day off tomorrow for everyone involved in the WSOP 2009 Main Event, it’s about time that your blogger topped up his tan! It’s only going to be 41°C…
Lars is alive!…
Your blogger has obviously spent too much time in the sun, because Lars Oerskov Jensen of Eurobet is still playing! Flying high with a nice chunky stack approaching 50k. If we can find the Dane, who knows, maybe your blogger will bump into Elvis somewhere? We can only hope!
A few of our Partners players are a little on the short side, but overall everything seems to be on track for a big Day 2B presence. Not wanting to start a trend here, but it now appears that Dave Hudson of Gala Coral has been eliminated.
Ville Ruuhonen of PAF – 30,9k
Timo Isotalo of PAF – 18,6k
Rasmus Kordelin of PAF – 30,2k
Marko Kannusmäki of PAF – 29,2k
Asmo Votkin of PAF – 19,3k
Petteri Häppölä of PAF – 23,8k
Dave Hudson of Gala Coral – …
Martin Bjerring Hansen of Scandic Bookmakers – 59,7k
Daniel Kallenbach of Betsson – 15k
Lars Oerskov Jensen of Eurobet – …
Jonas “Molle” Molander of RedKings – 28,9k
Jesper Petersen of Bet24 – 17,3k
And the winner is…
… Ola Brandborn! The blinds were 12,000 / 24,000. Ola limped in the small blind, and Loc went all-in for about 600,000. Ola instacalled and flipped up two red queens – QhQd. Loc showed Kd8d. For some extra excitement, the board came Ac5d3d which gave Loc a flush draw as well as the king overcard. But the turn and the river brought no help, and Ola was crowned the Swedish Champion of No-Limit Hold’em. Our heartiest congratulations to Ola, and to second place finisher Loc Ly. Ola rakes in the winning pot… Then he gave his winner’s speech, and expressed his happiness of finally having reached the status of an average player. (He was the first player to bust out of last year’s Swedish Championship). Download some high-res pictures of the Swedish Champion of No-Limit Texas Hold’em here…
Food break
The players are now on a food break. An hour and a half into the heads-up, Ola’s chip lead has shrunk significantly – he now has about 1,500,000 chips against Loc’s 1,300,000. This happened when Loc managed to double up against a bluffing Ola, who moved all in against Loc Ly’s raise board of JT2. Loc called and showed QJ.
April 26th, 2008Heads up begins – Jonas Danielsson gets third place
Jonas “Nebuchad” Danielsson is our third place finisher. He got the money in preflop with AQ against Loc Ly’s KQ. However, a king fell on the flop and neither the turn nor the river brought any help for Jonas.
Jonas receives a trophy and 409,000 SEK for his place finish.
The tournament is now heads-up between the final table’s most loose aggressive player Ola Brandborn and Loc Ly, who has been playing rather tight on the final table. The heads up begins with Loc Ly holding 700,000 chips and Ola has about 2,100,000.
April 26th, 2008Michael Johansson out in 4th place
Michael Johansson has been eliminated by Ola Brandborn. It was raised to 40,000 preflop with two players. The flop came with an Ace, a deuce and a five.
Both players checked the flop.
The ace of clubs fell on the turn. Michael leads out for 65,000. Ola raises approximately 170,000 and Michael moves all in. Ola calls quickly and Michael shows A♠Q♠. However it is not enough as Ola holds A♦K♦.
April 26th, 2008Ghena Dawoud out in 5th place
Ghena moved all-in from the small blind for 240,000. Ola instacalls and flips up A♣9♥. Ghena shows A♦4♥. With a flop of T♥5♦5♣ it looks like it will be a split, but a deuce and a seven falls on the river and Ghena is out.
Ghena receives 364 100 EEK (218,000 SEK) for his fifth place finish.
April 26th, 2008Mattias Ressner out in sixth
Mattias Ressner has been eliminated by Jonas “Nebuchad” Danielsson. Mattias didn’t even have enough chips to cover the small blind after losing a big pot to Michael Johansson. Mattias had 77, Mikael 88 and the flop fell 789.
Mattias receives 273 100 EEK (159,000 SEK) for his effort.
April 26th, 2008Action!
The final table started off in a frenetic tempo – three players have been knocked out in the first 30 minutes!
First out, in the very first hand of the day, was Andreas Johansson when his K♠J♠ failed to draw out against Loc Ly’s A♥K♣.
Minutes later, Jens Ogsäter is sent packing by Jonas Danielsson.
About fifteen minutes later, it is time for Ola “Terminator” Brandborn to take his first scalp of the evening. Ola gets all-in with K♠T♣ against Jörgen Petterson (aka Joggystyle) holding A♥T♠. A king falls on the flop and Jörgen is out.
April 26th, 2008Getting ready to rock and roll
Only minutes are left until the start of the final table. Nine players remain to compete for the first prize of nearly one million SEK. The remaining field looks like this:
| Ghena Dawoud | 668 000 |
| Ola Brandborn | 519 500 |
| Loc Ly | 378 000 |
| Michael Johansson | 365 000 |

| Jonas Danielsson | 166 000 |
| Jörgen Pettersson | 128 500 |

As you can see, Betsson player Ola Brandborn has the second chip position, and he is also considered the favorite to win according to behind-the-scenes gossip. Eighteen players have cashed a total of 715,000 SEK so far. It will be an exciting event, and we will do our best to keep you posted.

Ongame Network representative claims the sponsor prize
The sponsors’ invitational tournament, featuring 30 top names in the Gaming Industry, has been played out. After a fierce heads-up battle against a competing company’s Poker Manager that involved a very lucky drawout, Ongame’s tournament manager, Markus Svennerstål, stood victorious!
Good news, almost as good as the fact that we have now surpassed one of our competitors, that we refer to as “PP”, in size.

Kristoffer Wilstedt is out
Bestpoker’s Kristoffer Wilstedt is out in 22nd place, busted by Betsson’s Ola Brandborn. Kristoffer moved all in holding Q♥J♦, with a small chip stack and was called by Ola who unknowingly (he didn’t look at his cards) held 6♥5♣. A 665 flop sealed Kristoffer’s fate.
Ola Brandborn, now holding about 280,000 in chips. He is dominating the table with his aggressive play. Or, as another fellow player so eloquently put it: “Damn, he’s bombing the table!”
Kristoffer Wilstedt, who finished in 22nd place and got almost 30,000 SEK for his effort. The payout structure for the tournament is as follows:

Dilba on a roll…
Eight into the tournament, we have 72 players left out of the 149 entrants (there were supposed to be 150, but one person never showed up.) The average chip stack is 20,690.
Artist / Poker player Dilba Demirbag has managed to accumulate a stack of nearly 50,000 chips, which puts her in 2nd position right now.
Poker Pro / Businessman Bo Sehlsedt looks like he is about to pull a sneaky move…
April 24th, 2008Update: Right before the food break
Betsson’s star play William Thorson looks at his cards for a hand…
… and at his opponent for signs of weakness. He apparently found one out of the two, and managed to drag a small pot which put his chip stack at just above 4,000 chips. Unfortunately, it was not enough and William was eliminated just before the dinner break when his AhAs got outdrawn by his opponent’s KhKd.
Meanwhile, at another table, Betsson player Niclas Lundqvist is also quite shortstacked with 7,000 chips. (Hidden by his hand)
April 24th, 2008Day 1a Results

Further down we find Bestpoker Kristoffer Wihlstedt with a solid stack of 59,800 going into day two while Eurobet player Christoffer Andler is through with just under 40,000.

While writing this, Day 1b saw it’s first causalty – it was Kristian Ejvegård who managed the dubious feat of being the first player out of both the Main event, and Monday’s 5-card draw event. We wish you better luck next year, Kristian.
April 23rd, 2008Progress update
Ola Brandborn has been playing well and, and as a result his stack has increased to almost 30,000 chips.
Håkan Persson from Bet24 is at 20,000 chips after managing to draw out his opponent’s AA with his 88 after a eight fell on the turn.
Our third feature player for the evening, Mattias Backström, has unfortunately been eliminated.
There are now 79 players left out of the 128 entrants who started on day 1a.
April 23rd, 2008Three hours into the tournament…

Bet24’s Håkan Persson is running hot. He just got to enjoy a double up when his 55 held up against A5, on a flop of A75. On top of that he managed to sneak a few chips from an opponent holding AK, who probably is quite satisfied that he got away so cheaply.

Betsson player Ola Brandborn has just lost a 6k pot with JJ against QQ, but he is still in a good shape with 13,000 worth of chips, well above average.

Mattias Backström, representing Betsson, seems to be in a good mood despite some trials and tribulations that brought his chip stack down to 6,500.
Update: An hour into the event
An hour has passed since the dealers shuffled up and dealt. We have 126 players left out of the 128-man strong starting field.Renowned players that play today include, but are not limited to: Poker writer and theoretician Ola Brandborn representing Betsson, as well as poker writer Dan Glimne, football-player-turned-poker-pro Hans Eskilsson, and last but not least, the 2007 EPT Copenhagen Champion Magnus Pettersson.
April 23rd, 2008Shuffle up and deal!
Only minutes are left until Day 1A of the Swedish Poker Championship Main Event is ready to commence.
But even before the first had, the 2008 Swedish Poker Championship has made it’s way into the history books. A €550+50 five-card draw event was played on the 21st and 22nd of April; when the gunsmoke had cleared, Birgitta Johansson stood victorious as the first female Swedish Poker Champion ever! But that is not all, she is also one out of twelve players to survive day 1 of the €550+50 Omaha Rebuy event which will be played out later today. Well played!
April 23rd, 2008Just about ready to get underway
In just a few hours the cards will hit the felt on day 1a of the Swedish Live Poker Championships 2008.
