The Poker Gods…
Well, as soon as I walk onto the poker room floor, that drama and excitement you hear me speak of strikes again.
Down on table 4 seat 6, sits the Greek player Pantelis Pavlis. Just as i arrive at the table, I see there’s been a little preflop action involving 2 players. One of them…our man from Greece. The flop has just landed 3c 4c 5s . Action begins with the relatively short stacked Pantelis. “All-in” he declares whilst pushing around 35k into pot. His opponent, sitting on the button, calls the all-in and shows his “ducks” 2s 2c . Pantelis shows his “sail boats” 4s 4h . Pantelis is way out in front with a 70% advantage. Holding their breath, the turn is shown 9s . This has now increased the Greeks odds of winning the pot to over 81%. All he has to do is dodge an Ace or a 6. Just about everyone now has eyes on the dealer. The dream of the EPT Budapest is about to end for one of these players. The dealer begins. The burn card is tucked under the pot, the river is taken to the end of the community cards…the dealer turns it over in painfully slow motion… 7s . Pantelis cleans up!! The other player is eliminated and Pantelis has around 71k and some change sitting in front of him. Awesome job…awesome poker!!
