Piero’s bad beat…

The mystery of Piero Boschi’s elimination has been discovered!

The Eurobet player had J♣ K♥ on a flop of J♠ 9♣ 9♦ . The Italian then bets, and staright behind him, his opponent raises. Piero calls. The turn is a 4♥ . There’s a bet, and Piero moves all-in. His opponent calls this and shows Q♣ K♦ . Piero has top pair and his opponent is behind. It’s a 500k pot, and Piero just has to dodge any Ten or Queen. Astonishingly, the river was a Q♦ and the Italian is sent to the rail. A crazy call that got paid. I’m actually glad I missed it, would’ve looked bad if the Ongame Network blogger fell to his knees crying in anguish!

It’s been a great tournament, and a very classy finish to Season Five of the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour. As always, it’s been a ride of emotions for the players (not to mention your blogger) and we’ve seen some great action this week. The heartbreak at the end is only dampened thanks to the beautiful location we’re in.

There’s 60 players left battling it out for the €2,300,000 first prize. It’s a massive amount to win, and if I was forced to make a prediction on who would hold the trophy aloft…I’d have to say either Sandra Naujoks, Annete Obrestad or Ludovic Lacay.
