Level 4 ends, Level 5 begins…
Level 5 has just begun on a sour note. Lars Tofte of Betsafe just put his chips to use over on table 19.
With the pot over 2k and the flop showing Q♦ 4♦ 6♦ , there’s a bet of 1300. The Dane calls it and the turn is whipped out A♣ . His opponent bets 2100 and after counting his stack the Betsafe player sticks it all in the middle. He’s quickly called and the cards get some light. The Dane shows A♠ 4♠ for two pair, but he’s up against it when his opponent shows J♦ 9♦ . Only 6 cards left in the deck can stop Lars from being eliminated. The Dane is already preparing to stand up as the river is spat out 5♦ . He’s gone. The Dane doesn’t hang around and crosses the rail.
While I’m on the subject of bad news, Mads Smith Hansen of Scandic Bookmakers has vanished! I fear the worst, and am pretty sure the Danes dreams of taking home the WSOP 2009 Main Event bracelet are over.
Not wanting to be all doom and gloom, event #1 winner at the Aussie Millions 2009 Christian Heich, is romping through the field and has a monolith of chips in front of him. The German is showing the same form that took him to 14th place in the Aussie Millions six months ago, and floats around in the top 10 for the day. Håkan Andersson of Betsson and Jesper Birger Kristensen of Scandic Bookmakers are also running well and both are over the 50k mark.
