Response to concerns raised by members of 2+2
May 20th, 2008
This is a respone to some concerns raised by members of the 2+2 community that have been reported to the Ongame Network Ombudsman Service:
“A group of accounts inside the Ongame Network were, for some time, actively violating the terms & conditions of our partner sites. That these violations were able to take place was a failure of ours – not any of our partners. The fraudulent operation was shut-down before it was first recognized by the 2+2 forum.
This fraud attempt was fairly standard in its setup and as such, fairly quick and easy to detect under normal circumstances. It was neither the first nor the last attempt of its kind. As for both credit card fraud attempts and promotional scams it is important to keep in mind that no players are ever affected. We take the hit either way. And had we not been generally successful in dealing with these types of activities we would neither be allowed to handle transactions from major credit institutes nor have margins left to run the network at all.
We Ombudsmen would like to thank everyone who has invested time and applied their expertise in this matter. The self-regulatory force, for lack of a better term, that this industry has is amazing. You keep our security departments on their toes. And so you should.
Should similar concerns arise anywhere, please contact the us right away so that we can assist in investigating and responding to those concerns.”
We encourage you to leave comments below.
Sincerely,
Ombudsman
